It is perfect if you really want to disconnect from the world. Meganissi is a small island, located in the Ionian Sea, continues to be untouched and undeveloped. The unspoiled character of the island secures a large number of quiet and untouched beaches. If you are looking a slow rhythm and very old-fashioned peaceful atmosphere a holiday here is what you will be looking. What are the all inclusive choices in Vathi?
Vathi is a tranquil location, there are none of the traditional types of all-inclusive holidays. Instead you will have to create an all inclusive style of holiday. It’s easy, see how we do it.Most holiday choices consist of self-catering villas or smaller hotels giving bed and breakfast. Rather than looking for for an all-inclusive holiday here, why not choose a style of all inclusive that integrates accommodation with meals at Vathi’s traditional tavernas, which are famous for their fresh local food? Meganisi VillasWhat is Vathi like?
Vathi is the main town and also one of the two ports on the island. It is the main docking point for the ferries coming from the nearby Lefkas that cross over to the island. The small port is accompanied by two churches symbolically welcoming the visitors to Meganissi. Despite the small size of the village, there is a really picturesque environment, with some tavernas and cafes placed along the charming, colourful waterfront of the small harbour where the little fishing boats are docked, and the green hills surrounding the village definitely adding to its beauty.Only one kilometre back is the traditional village of Katomeri, which is a bit of a time warp into the slow pace of Greek life, and along the coast there are really nice little beaches and secluded spots for sunbathing which are perfect for a lazy day near the ocean.
The coast is famous for its stunning scenery, serene white-pebble beaches, and remarkable clear waters. During the holidays here, you can spend half of the time relaxing on the beach and the other half exploring the beautiful countryside, which is full of paths and mule trails that cross the entire island.
Best beaches in Vathi
The Vathi beaches are predominantly pebble-stone, surrounded by olive and pine trees, and are situated in several tranquil bays and creeks along the north coast. The beaches all have a beautiful landscape, but are very primitively equipped, and the water is extremely clear and blue-green, which is their main claim to fame. The harbor town is thus a perfect starting point for coast exploration as some beaches can be reached only by boat. Here are our selections of the best beaches in and around Vathi.- ✔️ Best beach for sunbathing – Megalo Limonari
Megalo Limonari is located just 1 km south of Katomeri and can be reached on foot, by bicycle, or by boat from Vathi. It is the largest of the two beaches that lie in a cove at the end of the curvy road, Megalo Limonari provides a very beautiful sand and shingle stretch with olive and pine trees around.- ✔️ Best beaches for activities – Spilia
This other port of the island Spartochori has a pebble beach in the bay that besides a great spot for sunbathing, offers a variety of boat trips around the coast, and the chance for a slow drink or meal right by the water.- ✔️ Best beach for isolation – Fanari
The small pebble beach at Fanari, which is very calm and has a magnificent location, is just a short trip from Vathi. Due to the rich green piedmont, there is a lot of natural shade here; the barren beach is a great place for the quiet day you want while on Meganissi.Weather in Vathi
